Hugh Baird College requires a Health and Social Care Assessor/Trainer to be responsible for the delivery of full apprenticeship frameworks and workplace learning on College and employer sites.

Working as part of the Business Development Centre team, you will be responsible for the delivery of full apprenticeship frameworks and workplace learning on College and employer sites.

A level 3 vocational qualification is essential, together with an A1 Assessor qualification. Experience of delivering and assessing competence-based training in the workplace and college environment is essential, together with demonstrable knowledge of work place qualifications.

Relevant commercial/industrial experience in a health and social care setting is also an essential requirement. Applications from registered Nurses will be particularly welcomed.

Description of duties

• To deliver knowledge units, practical or skills based training, technical certificates and key/functional skills on apprenticeship programmes with a continuous caseload of typically 40-60 learners (caseloads may vary from year to year according to College policy).
• To strictly adhere to all College Quality Procedures applicable to the role.
• To undertake assessments and keep records of all assessment and verification activities, using the standard systems set by the College.
• To assist learners in the accreditation of their prior learning.
• To undertake review/monitoring visits in accordance with the College’s progress review requirements.
• To assist candidates to develop an electronic portfolio of evidence for examination by the External Verifier, using the College preferred e-portfolio tool.

Essential criteria:

• Good general education to include English and Maths to at least GCSE grade C or GCE O level grade C standard.
• An appropriate teaching qualification or the willingness to work towards one.
• A1 Assessor Qualification.
• Level 3 qualified in a relevant vocational area.
• Considerable experience of delivering full apprenticeship programmes.

• Experience of delivering and assessing competence based training including group or classroom based sessions.
Experience of working in an industrial/commercial environment.
• Competent in the use of computerised systems and applications, including the ability to use E-Portfolio tools, and working with applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
• Able to identify customer needs and expectations and keep them in mind when taking actions or making decisions.
• Able to identify gaps in available information required to understand a problem or situation and to devise means of remedying such gaps.
• Able and willing to work flexibly in the interests of the College, employers and learners.
• Able to negotiate and counsel candidates.
• Demonstrate a high level of communications skills, both written and oral.
• Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships.
• Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines while applying quality standards to all tasks and ensuring that nothing is overlooked.
• Ability to work flexibly by taking account of new information or changed circumstances and modifying understanding of a problem or situation accordingly.
• Excellent attendance record.
• Driving licence and use of own car.
• Have a professional approach to maintaining appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with students.

A V1Assessor Qualification is desirable.

Hours: Permanent, full time.
