Mediplacements are looking for a highly experienced clinician within Speech and Language Therapy to work in the London region on a permanent basis. Position Summary We are seeking a highly experienced clinician to lead and co-ordinate Speech and Language Therapy services to the 46-bedded Rehabilitation Unit at the Wellington Hospital. You will be one of two lead clinicians and an integral member of the speech and language therapy department at the Wellington Hospital. As well as supervising and managing clinical staff, you will also be responsible for audit and quality initiatives, service evaluation, development and marketing. You will have extensive specialist experience in working with adults with acquired communication and swallowing difficulties within rehabilitation services, including experience with patients who have a tracheostomy tube in-situ. You will be independent with instrumental swallowing, both VFSS and FEES assessments, and able to train others in practice. You will also have the ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and provide internal training to nurses, physicians and other team members. The therapy department is committed to interdisciplinary team work and you will work closely with other clinical leads to develop and implement new initiatives for the unit. You should also have experience in supervising less experienced staff and quality monitoring skills. Data and Study Managers Medical Research Council - MRC Unit for Lifelong Health and Ageing 'Leading Science for Better Health' London Band 4 �30,896-�36,320 inclusive of London Allowances We are looking for up to three people with a range of skills to join the Scientific Support Team at the Medical Research Council Unit for Lifelong Health and Ageing (LHA). LHA research is based on the MRC National Survey of Health and Development (NSHD), the longest running birth cohort study in the world, with lifelong data on 5,362 British men and women followed since their birth in March 1946, so far for 67 years. LHA is affiliated to University College London and has recently been awarded further core MRC funding for research on the biological and social factors from early life that influence human ageing. Planned data collections include a home visit to all study members and smaller clinical studies involving neuroimaging and repeat bone scans. This is an excellent opportunity for people with drive and initiative and skills in data collection, data and study management, and/or data sharing to develop a career in cohort management, supporting LHA research and the NSHD resource. The successful candidates will work under the supervision of senior scientific support staff to deliver high quality, secure, and reliable data for the LHA scientific programme and for the wider scientific community. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate good communications skills, team working and sufficient technical skills in the areas of data collection, management and sharing, and in statistical analysis software. Degree level education or equivalent is desirable. Knowledge of longitudinal studies is an advantage. Two posts are permanent and one is for three years. The posts may be Full time or part time. They are supported by a flexible pay and reward scheme with 30 days annual leave and an optional MRC final salary pension scheme.
