They are responsible for the education outcomes of over 400 children from the ages of 6 to 18 years and their schools provide an alternative to mainstream education offering learners the opportunity to work with specialist, trained staff in small group settings.
They currently have opportunities available for Teachers and a Vocational Instructor to join them based in Wisbech.
Teacher
As a Teacher, you will deliver teaching sessions to young people the majority of whom will have either learning or behavioural difficulties or both. Within the role you will plan and prepare schemes of work, planning and preparing individual lessons within the schemes of work and endeavouring to integrate sufficient differentiation within tasks and subject matter that all children will be engaged by the lesson. Working with other staff, you will create a calm and welcoming atmosphere in the School, maintaining a disciplined but flexible approach to the children understanding that whilst they will normally respond well to routine many of the children, with challenging behaviours, can display mood swings and respond to issues outside of your control, communication and team work is imperative.
Candidates for this role should hold QTS and have experience in teaching at Key Stage 3 and 4, working with young people with complex needs and EBD. With good teaching skills and the ability to match your approach to the needs of the pupils, you will have experience of planning schemes of work and lesson plans within the National Curriculum framework and the ability to form effective relationships with children and act as a positive role model. You will be responsible for assessing students' progress either using APP or NC level descriptors. This role will be particularly suited to candidates with a humanities or art background although we do ask that candidates have a good grasp of general subjects.
Vocational Instructor
As a Vocational Instructor, you will teach a range of young people of whom the majority will have behavioural difficulties. You will plan and prepare schemes of work within the general curriculum guidance, planning and preparing lessons which would ensure you engage all children.
Candidates for this role will hold a relevant teaching qualification or hold vocational experience; an Assessor / Internal verification would be desirable, however is not essential. We do ask that candidates have experience of delivering alternative curriculum such as BTEC and function skills. With the ability to plan and prioritise your workload, you will have the aptitude to maintain judgement when working under pressure whilst demonstrating flexibility and initiative. Knowledge of child care law and child care protection issues would be beneficial.
